Pakistan coach Saqlain Mushtaq has asserted that the hosts will push for a result in the final Test against Australia, which begins on Monday, March 21. The first Test between the teams in Rawalpindi ended in a drab draw while Pakistan escaped out of jail in the second Test in Karachi courtesy hundreds from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins has stated that he does not regret his decision to not enforce the follow-on in the Karachi Test against Pakistan. He, however, did admit that the result of the match could have gone their way had they held on to some of the many chances that went to ground. Faced with a daunting task of chasing 506 in the fourth innings, Pakistan batted for 171.4 overs and scored 443 for 7 to walk away with a commendable draw. Babar Azam led from the front with classical, back-to-the-wall 196 while Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 104 to guide Pakistan after Azam’s departure.

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins felt that Pakistan tried to nullify their pace bowling by preparing a dead pitch for the 1st Test in Rawalpindi. Australia's first Test in Pakistan in 24 years ended in a drab draw after the hosts made 252 for no loss in their second innings in 77 overs. Abdullah Shafique was unbeaten on 136 and Imam-ul-Haq on 111. Earlier, Pakistan declared their first innings on 476 for 4 while Australia replied with 459. 1,187 runs were scored over five days in the Test match with only 14 wickets falling.

The Australian selectors on Tuesday named a full-strength squad for its first Pakistan tour since 1998. The Aussies will play three Tests in Pakistan from March 4 during their historic visit. The Tests are slated to be held in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore. The tour will be played at the back of the Justin Langer resignation saga. The coach stepped down from his role recently despite Australia claiming the Ashes 4-0. Andrew McDonald has been appointed interim coach for the Pakistan series.
